Polyany

The wooden church in Polyany, in the Zolochiv region of Lviv oblast, was designed in 1902 by noted Ukrainian architect Vasyl Nahirny (1847-1921). The church is one of the few remaining in Ukraine with frescoes painted by Modest Sosenko (1875-1920), a pioneer of neo-Byzantinism. The frescoes, badly damaged by rain, are in need of restoration. In 2020 and again in 2021 FTPUSA donated funds to reinforce the domes of the church to protect the frescoes from further damage.
