The Church of Saint Michael the Archangel in the village of Pnyatyn, in the Peremyshlyany region of Lviv Oblast, was built in 1760. Years of rain and snow have badly damaged the wooden church, and its wooden beams are literally pulling apart. A recent effort of preservationists uncovered frescos of Saints Volodymyr and Olha painted in 1760, and prompted the registration of the Church of Saint Michael the Archangel as a monument of local significance. The Lviv Oblast Council designated funds for the church’s restoration, but Russia’s invasion of Ukraine forced the diversion of those monies to the war effort. In December 2022, the Foundation to Preserve Ukraine’s Sacral Arts donated funds to reinforce its walls, and begin the restoration of the church.
