Saint Nicholas Church, in the village of Lyubelya in the Lviv region of Lviv Oblast, was built in 1936. Designed in the modern style by architect Evhen Nahirny (1885-1951) in 1934, the church was built of wood. Evhen Nahirny was the son of noted Ukrainian architect Vasyl Nahirny (1847-1921); father and son designed over 400 churches at the end of the 19th and turn of the 20th centuries in what is today Ukraine, Poland and Romania. In August 2024 the Foundation to Preserve Ukraine’s Sacral Arts donated funds to restore the church’s roof and cupolas.
